Hot air balloon game (speaking)

This is a fun speaking activity that your students will certainly love (approximately 15 minutes).

Tell your students that you need five volunteers to play a game. Once you have the volunteers, tell them to go in front of the class and give them some time to think the name of a famous person they would like to be (each students thinks the name of a different celebrity). Then, the teacher writes on the blackboard the name of each celebrity and the volunteers stand up below the name they have chosen facing the rest of the students in the class (this way the rest of the students in the class will remember the name of each of the celebrities).

After that, the teacher explains that all those celebrities are in a hot air balloon that is about to burst. Only one person can be saved, so each of the celebrities will have 2-3 minutes to give reasons why they have to be saved. They will have to give convincing reasons to the rest of the students in the class, since they will be the ones to vote their speeches and to decide which celebrity will be saved from a sure death.
